Dolan and Murphy fastpitch softball team finshed with a 2-2 record at the 2018 International Softball Congress (ISC) World Tournament in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada last weekend.
The 2-2 finish put the Dolan and Murphy Shamrocks in the top 24 in the world. They finished 22nd last year. The team thanks Dan Dolan and Dolan and Murphy for their continued sponsorship of our team. This year was the 32nd season of sponsorship for the Dolan Family.
Dolan and Murphy finished the season with a 20-17 record. Hauraki was the leading pitcher with a 10-11 record. Leading the offense were Kyle Pittman, .403; Dave Perkins, .346; Robert Reder, .343; Mick Baker, .318; and John Schweighart, .314.
In their first ISC game, Dolan lost to the Nith River Monsters, 2-0. Hauraki was the losing pitcher with relief help from Fabio Silvestre. Perkins got the lone hit for Dolan.
In Dolan and Murphy’s first loser bracket game the team defeated the Puslinch Kodiacs from Canada, 2-0. Hauracki was the winning pitcher and struck out 13 and gave up four hits. On offense, Dolan scored two runs in the third inning when Robert Reder got a single and scored on Dave Perkins’ double and who scored on John Schweighart’s triple.
In Dolan’s next loser bracket game the Shamrocks defeated Shakespeare, Ontario, 3-2. Hauracki was the winning pitcher in relief of Silvestre. Hauracki came in the fourth inning with the score tied 2-2 with two runners on and no outs and struck out the side. Jared finished with nine strike-outs in four innings. In the top of the seventh inning with two outs Cooper Carson hit a single, then Baker hit a single, and Robert Reder drove in the winning run with a base hit to left field.
Dolan’s last game was against J and B Bombers, the third ranked team in the country from California. The Bombers defeated Dolan and Murphy, 3-1, in a hard-fought game. Hauraki was the losing pitcher and struck out five and gave up seven hits. Dave Schuett had two hits to lead the offense. Dolan ended the game with the bases loaded in the seventh inning, but could not finish the rally.
