Varied youth events at Yorkville Library in December

The Yorkville Public Library Youth Service Department will have many events in December. All events will take place at the Library, 902 Game Farm Road, unless otherwise noted. For more information, or to register, call 630-553-4354 or visit www.yorkville.lib.il.us.

•Escape Room Adventure
The Escape Adventure will be available in the month of December. Use the clues to unlock the boxes before the next group comes in, you only have 30 minutes. Contact the Youth Service Department for an appointment time at 630-553-4354 ext 108 or stop in.

•3D Printing (virtual)
Leah English provides a step-by-step tutorial on how to use Tinkercad. Tinkercad is an easy-to-use 3D CAD design tool, where you can create an object that we can print on our 3D printer. Check out the library’s YouTube channel, follow the steps to create your own 3D printed piece. 3D Prints are $.20/gram

•Drop In Story Time (at YPL), Every Friday at 10:30 a.m.
This story time is held in the children’s area of the Library. A volunteer from The Friends of the Library is our special reader.

•Window Art, December 2-7 (you choose the day and time that is convenient)
Help us liven up the library with window art. You can come in anytime/any day (December 2-7) to create your artwork. Please register for the event on the website. Space is limited.

•Career Planning for Teens (Webinar), Tuesday, Dec. 3, 6:30 p.m..
Career planning is an essential first step for students planning to attend college, particularly for students still deciding on their career path. Proper career planning can help focus their college experience, minimize unnecessary student loan debt, facilitate on-time graduation, and be a stepping stone to a purposeful and prosperous career. This workshop outlines the career planning process for students, the expected outcomes, how a career plan can improve the student’s confidence in their future and even provides an overview of the financial side of college planning.

•Preschool Zone, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m..
Join us for interactive and engaging books plus activities for you and your child. Both programs are the same. Registration is required.

•Family Holiday Trivia, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m..
Join us for some family-friendly holiday trivia! Form your family team and come answer questions about the holidays. Top team will win an exciting prize!

•LEGO Meet Up, Thursday, Dec. 5, 12:30 p.m..
Join us to make amazing LEGO creations and hang out with others. LEGOs will be provided, you bring the creativity!

•Spanish Story Time, Thursday, Dec. 5, 5:30 p.m..
The first Thursday of each month we will have volunteers from the YHS National Spanish Honor Society read books in Spanish to the group. This event is drop in. Please join us for this new program.

•Author Visit: Shirley Prescott, Friday, Dec. 6, 10:45 a.m.
Join us for a very special author visit! Local author, Shirley Prescott will share her new book, “The Journey of a Lost Reindeer on Route 34” with us. Musician, Steve McLain will provide a special song that goes with the book.

This will be a part of Drop In Story Time.

•LEGO Kits, December 9-14 (you choose the day and time that is convenient)
Come by the library during open hours the week of December 9. We will provide you a themed container of various LEGOs to use in the library. Using only the bricks provided and your creativity, make your build. Your creation will be added to the LEGO display at the library.

•Tots & Toddlers, Monday, Dec. 9 and Thursday, Dec. 19, 10:30 a.m..
Join us for songs, stories, and dancing. Your child will receive a take home craft to complete. Please register on the YPL website.
