Aurora Lions Club members will ring handbells for the Salvation Army Saturday, Nov. 23.
Approximately 18 Aurora Lions will ring bells for SA’s Red Kettle campaign from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, outside Jewel-Osco, 1952 W. Galena Boulevard in Aurora.
Aurora SA Corps Major Joaquin Rangel said the Aurora unit’s first day for the Red Kettle push was Friday. He said volunteers are needed to staff 40 places to ring including stores like Jewel and Walmart each with two doors.
Salvation Army units in the Fox Valley have launched this year’s campaign earlier than usual in an effort to meet lofty goals given the current economy. Rangel said the Aurora area goal for the Red Kettle campaign is $188,000.
