Poem: Thanksgiving

So our Thanksgiving Holiday
Is just another work-filled day,
Because, at least, you get a perk
Because somebody has to work.
That latter part, you must confess,
Is what, each year, you must address.
They do not have to ask you twice
Because the extra pay is nice,
Of course, there is the family touch–
They never see, of you, too much.
You always claim your hands are tied,
The business must come first beside.
We’d like to keep Thanksgiving’s heart;
You see it as Thanksgetting’s part.
