The Aurora Public Library Foundation’s much-anticipated Winter Gala is set to dazzle attendees Saturday, Dec. 7, with an evening of elegance, entertainment, and philanthropy. This signature event offers attendees a magical atmosphere filled with fabulous cuisine, live music, and the spirit of giving. Mingle with community leaders and supporters while contributing to a cause that strengthens educational resources and cultural enrichment in Aurora.

The Aurora Public Library Foundation was started more than 20 years ago to help support the Aurora Public Library District’s vision and mission. The library’s vision, connecting people to community, celebrating every story, guides the work we do to support our diverse community with resources and programs. Thanks to the Foundation and partnerships with the community, donors like you have made many projects possible and created lasting library experiences for everyone.

This year’s Winter Gala, hosted by Society 57, aims to celebrate and further support the work of the Foundation. This glamorous event, themed We Believe, promises an unforgettable experience while specifically supporting the library’s Branch Renovation Enrichment Projects. “Support for our Branch Renovation Enrichment Projects will serve the entire community for years to come!” said foundation manager Jordan Debbink-Lesniak. “Making a monetary gift will help us create a place of belonging at the Aurora Public Library District.”

At the event, guests will be treated to a delectable array of culinary delights crafted by Reuland’s Catering. As the evening unfolds, the soothing sounds of live jazz music from Yoko Noge & The Jazz Me Blues will create an enchanting ambiance, setting the perfect backdrop for an evening of celebration and giving. “We are thrilled to have Yoko Noge & The Jazz Me Blues at this year’s event!” adds Debbink-Lesniak. “Their unique, eclectic style represents a blend of cultures that is sure to leave a lasting impression on listeners.”

Each year at the Winter Gala, two awards are presented to outstanding community members for their commitment to excellence and lifelong learning. This year, the Foundation Board will Honor alderman Bill Donnell with the Thomas J. Weisner Excellence in Education Award and Mr. And Mrs. Mark and Pam Truemper with the Lifelong Learning Inspiration Award for their contributions to the Aurora Public Library District. “alderman Donnell and Mr. and Mrs. Truemper exemplify the spirit of generosity and community leadership that makes Aurora shine,” said Debbink-Lesniak. “Their contributions to the Aurora community have helped create opportunities and foster a sense of unity among our residents.”

A unique feature of the event is our charity auction. Items up for bid include a five-night stay in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, a Mickey Mouse Loungefly purse, a Chicago dinner and theatre experience, and a $500 Airbnb gift card! Anyone can register for the auction and bid on these fantastic items virtually.
