The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley (DCFV) held their January membership meeting Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora.
DCFV vice president, Chuck Nelson, introduced guest speaker, Marianne Renner, a life long Aurora resident, who attended and graduated from Waubonsee Community College. While at WCC, Marianne received the Waubonsee Award for Excellence, as executive editor of the School’s newspaper. After leaving Waubonsee, Marianne attended Northern Illinois University, where she excelled in her studies and was recognized as an Outstanding Journalism graduate for her work on the School’s daily newspaper. She received her Masters Degree in Marketing at West Virginia University.
Marianne is a highly sought-after leadership coach, who has helped thousands of leaders remove self-imposed barriers and unleash their greatest potential. She is a well-regarded motivational speaker, and author of three books; Chaos to Clarity Success Journal, Stop Thinking Like an Employee, and her newest book, Self Talk!
Marianne, shared with us, how she lost her mother when in fourth grade, conquered decades of debilitating depression and addiction, by mastering her mindset and changing her self-talk, and how she shares those lessons learned during that battle to help others overcome self-doubt and open doors to new possibilities. She has worked with government, education, and healthcare leaders across the country, helping them navigate through change, communicate with influence and resolve conflict in the workplace.
Marianne is an excellent speaker and gave us a wonderful presentation. Her latest book, Self-Talk, is an inspiring revelation of ten (10) common stories we tell ourselves that sabotage our best efforts for success. More about Marianne at: MarianneRenner.com.
