Naperville Noon Lions Club will collect styrofoam products for recycling Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at Route 59 Metra train station, 475 Fairway Drive in Naperville. Partnering with Naperville Lions are Naperville Park District, Dart Container Corp. and Naperville Environment and Sustainability Taskforce.
Jim Woodring, recycling project chairman for Naperville Noon Lions, discussed styrofoam recycling during Aurora Lions Club’s noon membership meeting April 17 at Paulie’s Pub in Aurora.
According to Woodring, Lions volunteers in yellow vests will guide donors in dropping off styrofoam for recycling. Donations should be in clear plastic bags that will also be recycled.
Styrofoam that will be accepted includes clean food cups, clamshells, meat trays, rigid packaging, containers and shipping padding. Not accepted will be brown polyurethane foam, flexible polyethylene foam, packing “peanuts,” blue building insulation and dirty food contaminated items.
Additionally, Woodring said, Lions will also accept eyeglasses, phones, running shoes, pop can tabs, key fobs, keys, brass, hearing aids and inkjet- printer cartridges.
