Poem: Opportunity

Try knocking on the door of Opportunity;
She’s almost always in—as nice as nice can be.
She can be disconcerting, seems to never blink,
But she expects the same from you—to make you think.
Then, often, when she speaks, it’s hard to hear her though;
And that’s when she’ll be saying what you need to know.
She also may, at times, be leading you afield;
But that’s her way of showing depth to any field;
A side to your pursuit not known to exist.
A something, otherwise, which you’d have surely missed.
Of course, she plays no favorites, no person most deserved;
She makes no bones about it—it’s first come, first served.
But it is best you understand this given fact—
She will not wait for someone to get in the act!
