Diabetes Club of Fox Valley members to meet July; 9DCFV will participate in the Aurora Farmers Market, “Christmas in July”, Saturday, July 12

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will hold their July membership meeting Wednesday, July 9, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora.

Meeting will be held in the East Banquet Room. Dinner is optional on members’ own from the menu at 5:30 p.m. and meeting begins at 6:30 p.m..

Guest speaker for this month’s membership meeting will be Sonny de Rama, vice president of development and innovation, for VNA Health Care.

Invite a friend, family member or business associate to attend this meeting with you, to find out more about how DCFV can help the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) and the diabetics they serve. Guests are always welcome!

Members are also expecting a visit from Olive Schwerha, an eight year old diabetic, who was diagnosed at the age of three with Type 1 diabetes. Olive is completely insulin dependent. Her parents Matt and Dani Schwerha added her to a waitlist for a diabetic alert dog when she was six, with The Ron and Vicki Santo Diabetic Alert Dog Foundation. June 27, Olive received her dog, Rez, who spent a whole year being trained. Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley are raising funds to help the Schwerha family.

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley members will be at the Aurora Farmers Market, first ever, “Christmas in July”, Saturday morning, July 12, on Water Street, between Benton and Downer, in downtown Aurora. Our tent will be decorated, we’ll have a toy box full of small toys for children to pick from, while members hand out information on prediabetes, diabetes and healthy eating, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Friday, Aug. 1, you’ll find us in downtown Aurora at First Fridays, “Stolp Island Block Party”. A party you won’t want to miss, it’s a tradition! 5 p.m. to 9 p.m..

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together, to provide diabetes awareness in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research to find a cure.

Uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose) can cause vision problems, heart problems, nerve damage, dental problems, kidney damage, and more.

Eat healthy, stay active and have a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes free!

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization, a true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations and fundraising is used locally for the club’s fight against diabetes.
