Dear editor;

Whaaaat? Donald Trump’s approval rating at 90%? That’s according to House speaker, Mike Johnson, who made that claim in an interview Friday, July 18 with CNBC. This is of course right up there with other of the many false claims of the chief purveyor of bull$#!% himself! In fact, from any of several reputable surveys, Trump’s ratings do well to push up toward 50% which is in and of itself surprising to many of us. How dumb do you have to be to buy into what this guy is trying to sell?

It is both amusing and disturbing that our Congress is consumed with their need to ‘investigate’ Joe Biden’s mental capacity and subsequent actions during his past presidency, while the current president can’t even remember that he himself was the one to appoint the current Federal Reserve chair, Jerome Powell. It’s long overdue for Trump to submit to a real psych exam. His ability to regurgitate “person, woman, man, camera, TV” five years ago hardly qualifies him to be in charge of weapons that could destroy civilization!

For those students whose research programs are still being funded, I’d like to suggest a challenging study that might help us all in our efforts to understand this country’s sad predicament. For the most part, presidential IQ’s are not that difficult to retrieve, but the group average IQ’s for current and past presidential cabinets would prove more difficult to determine. Equally difficult, but no less informative, would be a comparison of average IQs between Republican and Democrat members of Congress. But ultimately, in these times especially, a comparison of group average IQs among Trump voters/supporters and the rest of us might be helpful and revealing.

As further evidence of the small (and deteriorating?) mind of Donald Trump, now he’s applying political pressure on Washington’s football team and Cleveland’s baseball team to revert their names back to those that had been so culturally disrespectful of Native Americans for years.

This is yet another display of his small minded obsession with names as he first demonstrated with his urgent need to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

While he and his administration are grabbing people off the street and confining them in spaces smaller than are provided for our Nation’s zoo animals, he sits and ponders what to call some of our sports teams. It makes me wonder how long it will take for this guy to decide that the Statue of Liberty should be renamed the Statue of Trump. I will concede that at this point in time, what Lady Liberty represented in her historical past is being eroded with the passing of each new day under the Trump presidency.
