The City of Aurora’s Data and Analytics Division, in partnership with the City’s Community Development Division (CDD), has unveiled a new open data portal, designed to provide residents with an in-depth look at City assistance programs and grant funding awarded to community organizations over time.

The Community Development Open Data Portal houses data related to grants that are funded at the state, local, and federal level, providing services to Aurora residents in need. The Community Development Division manages funding resources to support programs related to affordable housing, housing rehabilitation, public infrastructure, and other public service activities for Aurora residents.

The City’s Open Data Portal is a centralized hub for data published cross City departments, where residents and community members alike can download and analyze data in the name of accessibility and transparency.

“The Community Development Open Data Portal will allow Aurora residents to view how funding has been allocated over the last five years through the Community Development Division based on community priorities,” Management Assistant Adam Grubbs, said. “This will provide another opportunity for Aurora residents to engage with the Division, and to better assist us in determining what gaps there are in the community, so we are able to respond to those gaps by developing programs and allocating funding to better serve citizens.”

The newly established Community Development portal will provide key insight on grants awarded by the CDD and what considerations are taken in determining which projects bring the greatest benefits to Aurora residents. Grants are aimed at strengthening neighborhood resources and community infrastructure; local non-profits and private businesses that contribute to creating affordable housing in Aurora are eligible for funding.

Within the interactive portal, residents can explore grants that are state, locally, and federally funded. Data included in the CDD portal will allow community members to understand types of housing assistance, where and how funding is allocated across City wards, and more.
