Yorkville Public Library youth events in September

The Yorkville Public Library Youth Service Department will have many events in September. All events will take place at the Library, 902 Game Farm Road, unless otherwise noted. For more information, or to register, call 630-553-4354 or visit www.yorkville.lib.il.us.

•3D Printing, Saturday, Sept. 20, 10:30 a.m..

Appointments of 15-minutes are available each month. Mrs. Jessica will provide one on one instruction for Tinkercad and how to create a 3D model. The model will be printed on the 3D Printer. Cost: $0.20 / gram. You are also able to submit your print at YPL3DPrint@gmail.com if it is more convenient.

•Artful Beginnings (preschool), Monday, Sept. 22, 10:30 a.m..

Check out this program. We will read a book then create a fun craft project. Please register. Dress for the mess.If you have multiple children, please register each child separately. Thank you.

•Literary Centers, Tuesday, Sept. 23-Thursday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m..

Stop by anytime Tuesday-Thursday to experience a parent/child guided opportunity for hands-on literacy instruction. Literacy Centers are designed to give children ample opportunity to practice the very important skills of listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

•My college planning webinar: what’s changing and what can you do, Tuesday, Sept. 23, 6:30 p.m..

This workshop will explore recent changes in financial aid that may impact how much parents will pay for college and how they can adjust to these shifts. Actionable strategies to reduce costs and make informed decisions based on each college’s financial aid formulas will be shared. Parents will leave with tools to predict their financial aid outcomes, avoid excess debt, and better navigate the evolving world of higher education financing.

•Afternoon Hangout: LEGO, Thursday, Sept. 25, 1 p.m..

Join us for LEGOs. We will supply the LEGOs, you supply the creativity.

•Farmacy Farmstand, Saturday, Sept. 27, 10:30 a.m..

Join us at the Farmacy Farmstand for our annual fall story time. Ms Jennette will share some favorite stories with the group, following by play time and exploring some of the farm. Drop by!

•Read with Paws, Saturday, Sept. 27, 10:30 a.m..

Children can come to the library, select a book, and read to a furry friend. All therapy dogs and handlers have been certified by an accredited organization. This program was designed originally because children feel less pressure to read to a dog than an adult so, it was meant to be a way to help struggling readers or even just encourage reading. It is open to all levels of readers and non-readers. Please register for your 15 minute time slot on the YPL website. Space is limited. If you are unable to attend, please contact the library.
