The Naperville Park District invites the community to attend a variety of thrilling Halloween-themed events throughout October. Each event is designed to celebrate the fall season with educational activities about the local ecosystem, fun and bone-chilling performances under the moonlight and entertaining celebrations with friends and family.
All October long, families are invited to Knoch Knolls Nature Center, 320 Knoch Knolls Road, to celebrate the many critters found in nature with Creepy Critters Month. Families can drop in during nature center open hours to enjoy free, seasonally themed, self-guided activities featuring Halloween creatures such as spiders, bats, and more.
Kick off the Halloween season with bone-chilling stories at Ghost Stories in the Park…in the Dark from Friday, Oct. 3 to Sunday, Oct. 5. The Park District invites the community to listen to the talented storytellers from Summer Place Theatre at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, 912 Sindt Court, as they share an evening of ghastly tales. Tickets for the performances are $7 and may be purchased over the phone, online at www.napervilleparks.org or during regular business hours at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center or Fort Hill Activity Center. Stories are recommended for adults and children ages five and older.
Families are invited to celebrate Halloween festivities early on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Halloween Happening, presented by Woody Buick GMC. This is a free event held at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, and it is designed for children ages 10 and under to show off their costumes, play fun, Halloween-themed games, collect candy and win prizes. Tot Town, an area for toddlers ages five and under, is also part of the celebration. Everyone is welcome to wear a family-friendly costume to the event. Please note, there are new costume rules for the event; to learn more, visit www.napervilleparks.org/halloweenhappening.
