•No Carve Pumpkin Contest, Monday, Oct. 20 .
Pumpkin Decorating Contest is back! Feel free to use paint, glue, paper, etc. to decorate your pumpkin. Please do not cut into the pumpkin. Drop off your NO-CARVE pumpkin starting Monday, October 20. Voting begins October 23 – October 30. The pumpkin with the most votes wins a prize.

Do you crochet, knit, needlepoint, sew, quilt or like to draw? Come hang out and work on your unfinished projects, show off finished projects, or check out what other people are doing.

Stop by anytime Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to experience a parent/child guided opportunity for hands-on literacy instruction. Literacy Centers are designed to give children ample opportunity to practice the very important skills of listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

“Leonard Builds a Haunted House” is the next book to be featured at StoryWalk. You have the chance to meet and draw with the Author/Illustrator Mike Ciccotello. There will also be a spooky scavenger hunt. StoryWalk is located YJWC Heartland Circle, 1267 Taus Circle, Yorkville.
•Halloween Family Trivia Night, Wednesday, Oct. 22, 6 p.m..
Form a team full of family or friends and compete against your neighbors to answer questions about Halloween movies, TV shows, music, and history. If your team knows the most spooky trivia, you might just win some fun prizes!
•Read with Paws, Saturday, Oct. 25, 10:30 a.m..
Children can come to the library, select a book, and read to a furry friend. All therapy dogs and handlers have been certified by an accredited organization. This program was designed originally because children feel less pressure to read to a dog than an adult so, it was meant to be a way to help struggling readers or even just encourage reading. It is open to all levels of readers and non-readers. Please register for your 15 minute time slot on the YPL website. Space is limited. If you are unable to attend, please contact the library.
