It appears that after 14,000 years or so, plus or minus, we’re having a new Ice Age. This current one has its abominable snow creatures masked, snatching deadly Latino murderers, drug lords, and other nefarious types (with some American citizens tossed in) right out of their landscape businesses or roofing jobs where they’re toiling in the hot sun, or pulling them off their food trucks or out of libraries. Kids aren’t immune either because you never know what type of a lowlife criminal scum could be masquerading as a regular human child. If this gets your autocratic juices flowing, all you wannabe macho men (forget it, ladies; that position is reserved to cover all of you by one Kristi Noem) apply to be a masked ICE agent and get in the good graces of everyone in MAGA World.
So I guess it’s okay to harass or round up thousands of Latin-appearing people, many of them citizens, to catch maybe one criminal violator? Could this be racial profiling? I believe the whole business is a sham perpetrated by president Trump, to deport or terrorize as many Hispanic people as he can. And if he can’t force them to leave the country, he can at least scare them away from the voting booths.
I must award a big cookie to Broadview, Ill. mayor Katrina Thompson, mayor of a town where ICE is holed up. She stopped secretary of U. S. Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem at the Village Hall front door, saying she was too busy to meet with her. After the dog-killer left, mayor Katrina appeared at the ICE facility to support the protestors. I grew up in Broadview, then a town of 6,800, and I’ve heard the Broadview name mentioned more in the last couple of weeks than I had in my entire life (Now that I think of it, this could be the subject of a future column. My father was a Broadview fireman).
Just the other day I saw that National Guard members are beginning to revolt against being used to support ICE and their rampage against American citizens. One trooper said this is not what he joined up for. A 15-year-old autistic boy who was selling fruit was snatched away by ICE thugs. His family was never informed and they reported him missing. Days later, he was discovered being held by ICE. And National Guard soldiers are complaining about supporting heroic ICE actions such as this?
•The effects of TTT (Trump’s Terrible Tariffs), are beginning to be felt by me, anyway. There are two products I’ve been watching on eBay from Canadian sellers. I’ve previously bought similar items from Canada on eBay. But eBay has now added a comment to the shipping cost, indicating that there are additional import fees that will be added at the time of purchase. My wife and I went to IKEA last week to look for a small desk (that if I were lucky I could assemble myself without any parts left over) and have lunch in their cafeteria. The prices have jumped due to TTT. Even little things that were $1.99 (toilet brushes for example; you can never have too many) are now $3.99. In the cafeteria, food prices are up. A salmon plate that was $6.99 is now $11.99. Gee, I wonder who’s paying the tariffs? Could it be…us? Trump says that inflation is over and those who don’t believe him are the ones causing trouble. It’s all our fault not his. Who gives a rat’s patoot if it’s inflation or tariffs? We’re paying more either way.
TTT were supposed to force manufacturing back to America. What American company is going to manufacture Norwegian salmon? When manufacturers plan to expand to bring production of whatever back here, they’re cut off at the knees because the president, a self-proclaimed genius, suddenly decided to reduce the tariffs and made it no longer cost efficient for the American manufacturers to get in the market.
But I digress. Keep in mind the openings for new ICE troopers, no time-wasting, left-wing intelligence tests to ace. Just sign up to get out there and shoot pepper balls at protestors and pastors. Ouch.
