Teen shot at park on Aurora’s east side

The Aurora (Ill.) Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 16-year-old injured Thursday, Oct. 16 evening on the city’s far east side.

Just before 5:50 p.m. on October 16th, 2025, officers responded to the 2800 block of Village Green Drive after receiving reports of a gunshot victim near a park filled with children playing. When officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound to a lower extremity. The teen was transported to a nearby hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Multiple specialized unitsincluding APD K-9 Unit, Special Operations Group, Community Oriented Policing Unit, and Special Response Team immediately responded to the scene to assist in securing the area and searching for those involved.

Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded to the scene and began investigating the specific circumstances of the incident. Evidence Technicians also responded to the scene to identify and collect forensic evidence from the shooting.
