
Saluting Veterans Day, Yellow Bird Books, 34 S. Stolp Ave., in Aurora hosted readings and signings of books by two military veterans Saturday, Nov. 8.

The event was free to the public.
Wayne Johnson of Aurora read from his novel, “The Militarized Zone: What Did You Do in the Army?” Drafted in 1969, Johnson served as a Specialist 5 in the Eighth Army headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.
Johnson writes a humor column for The Voice newspaper.
Sara Knigge, a bilingual educational consultant, read from “My Story: Experiences of a LRRP/Ranger in Vietnam 1968-1969.” Her late father, Bill Christiansen, passed away shortly after penning the chronicle of his service as a 75th Infantry Rangers sergeant. His book recounts first hand experiences in the war.
