News from the Sierra Club Valley of the Fox:
•Getting out into nature is one way that we can come together, appreciate the beauty of the Earth, and remember how important it is that we take care of the environment for ourselves and future generations to thrive. Valley of the Fox is planning to help us all get outside with a new Hiking Club that will help us stretch our muscles and breathe some fresh air. We are also planning a camping trip in the spring! Outings like this help us to fortify ourselves for our real work of conservation, education, and political action.
The next Hiking Club event will be Friday, Nov. 21, at 9 p.m. at Leroy Oakes, 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles. Leader: Jan Mangers
•We love to support the volunteer workdays sponsored by the Kane and Kendall County Forest Preserves. For more information about Kane County go to kaneforest.com/volunteer or contact Robb Cleave at CleaveRobb@kaneforest.com.
The next clean up day will be at Bliss Woods Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon. Meet at the Templo Belem parking lot at 42w635 Kedeka Road.
•Home Energy Efficiency Projects and a Virtual Trip to The Galapagos Islands presentation will take place Monday, Nov. 17, 6:30 p.m., Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Avenue and on Zoom.
Ever wonder what all those weatherization strips and coils are for at the hardware store? At the presentation we’ll show ways that can help you weatherize your home before the winter cold sets in.
Then, on a sunnier note, Mavis Bates will share her recent excursion to The Galapagos Islands.
Join us for either in person at the Batavia Public Library or on Zoom at https://tinyurl.com/bdetx2fp.
•Our political committee is ramping up for the 2026 elections. To get involved please call Sandy Kaptain, 224-402-0105.
It’s no too late to save the planet, but we better hurry up!
