The winter storm that swept across northern Illinois over Thanksgiving weekend, November 29-30, left differing totals. According to the National Weather Service, Chicago saw a record November snowfall, with 8.4 inches at O’Hare Airport November 29, surpassing the previous record of 8.0 inches set in 1951.
Kane County communities also received significant accumulations. Among the highest totals reported: St. Charles 9.6 inches, Geneva 9.5 inches, Elgin 9.3 inches, and Campton Hills at 8.8 inches.
The west side of Aurora had 8.6 inches, while the east had 8.2 inches.
The highest totals from the storm were up in northern Lake County with a total of 12 inches.
