Aztec Girlz 630 captured the title Sunday, Nov. 30, in Panama City, Florida, defeating Sting ETX from Harvey, Texas by a score of 3-0. Earlier this year, the team won a regional tournament in Waukegan, Ill., to earn the opportunity to compete in the national championship. With their most recent victory, Aztec Girlz 630 accumulated critical points, achieving a new rank of fifth in the Nation and second in Illinois.

“This is such an amazing honor,” mayor John Laesch said. “Thank you for positively representing the City on the national stage. Your dedication, teamwork, and success make Aurora proud.”

The team consists of five girls, all of whom are Aurora residents. Team members include Adilene Mata, age eight, Isabella Rios, age seven, Jade Santillan, age seven, Athalia Villa, age eight, and Sofia Ordaz, age eight.

Aztec Girlz 630 was established in 2022 as part of the Federación Azteca Fútbol Organization. The team’s current ranking is based on points earned from winning both individual matches and tournaments throughout the country.
