A march Saturday, Jan. 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. will celebrate the anniversary of the 2017 Women’s March the day after the first inauguration of Donald Trump as the president of the United States.
The Anniversary Women’s March is a day of solidarity, activism, and community. Participants of all ages, backgrounds, and identities are invited to gather in support of gender equality, reproductive freedom, racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and the protection of all communities who continue to fight for dignity and equity.
The event begins with speakers at Wilder Park, 350 N. River Street, Aurora.
The march will head to West New York Street on sidewalks only.
Speakers for the event will be Aurora mayor John Laesch, State representative Barbara Hernandez, Kane County Board member Sonia Garcia, and Chuck Adams, the founder of Indivisible Aurora.
The march will celebrate the past, empower the present, and shape a more just future.
Attendees are encouraged to support local small businesses and restaurants before or after the march and wear warm clothing.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. All participants should seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with their values.
