Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley held their May membership meeting at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora.

Guest speakers for this month’s meeting were Mike Nelson, director of community events for the City of Aurora, and Felicia Freitag, manager of the Aurora Farmers Market.
Mike Nelson, spoke about all the community events going on in Aurora, including an update on River Edge Park, Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades, ribbon cutting ceremonies for Hollywood Casino, and opening up additional parking in downtown Aurora.
Felicia Freitag, enlightened us about the Aurora Farmers Market, the oldest Farmers Market in Illinois, opening its 115th season, Saturday, June 6, at 65 S. Water Street, in downtown Aurora. Saturday, June 16, they’ll have a composting demonstration. The Stolp Island Parking Garage will offer free parking on Farmer Market days.

Saturday, June 6, join us at the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley’s 4th Annual “Tee Off to Defeat Diabetes” Golf Outing and Banquet being held at Bliss Creek Golf Course, 1 Golf View Road, in Sugar Grove, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. We’ve put together a complete golf outing package. Only $175 per golfer, which includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, golf cart, goody bag, and a great steak dinner! Not a golfer…why not attend the Golf Banquet? Steak dinner, door prizes, basket raffles, and 50/50 cash drawing! Dinner follows golf at 5 p.m.. Tickets: $50 per person.

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together to bring about an awareness of diabetes, in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetics, along with investing in research to find a cure.
