Following an open call for nominations, and a week-long voting period, the City of Aurora is excited to reveal the names of the four baby falcons who hatched while under the wings of their mother on the side of City Hall in early May.

Over 500 votes were cast by the public, as voters chose from the 10 most popular name nominations submitted from May 5 through May 11, which included the likes of Vern, Aurora, Hope, George, Amor, Fox, Galena, Wayne, Sky, and Ringo.
The top four vote getters and the new names of Aurora’s beloved four baby falcons are Aurora, Sky, Hope, and Vern.
Members of the public can watch Aurora, Sky, Hope, and Vern, along with their parents, Dave and Vixen, live throughout the day using the City’s 24-hour “Falcon Cam,” at www.aurora.il.us/FalconCam.
Residents were introduced to the falcon family in early April, as Vixen began nesting in a crevice on the second floor of the exterior of City Hall. At five years old, she was fledged from a nest in Minneapolis, and met an adult male peregrine named Dave, who was fledged from a nest in Chicago in 2020. Vixen would go on to lay four eggs, with two of them hatching on Friday, May 1, and two others hatching May 4.
