Musings:

•The Sins of Donald J. Trump (chapter 20).” He has:

Signed an executive order declaring the production of glyphosate to be critical to national security and should be increased;

Posted on his Truth Social website an image of himself as Jesus Christ;

Planned to fire 9,400 TSA agents as part of a budget cut of the agency and recommended using private security personnel;

Signed an executive order shielding Bayer, who acquired Monsanto in 2018, from lawsuits concerning glyphosate in beer;

Signaled his desire to change ICE name to “NICE” (National Immigration and Custom Enforcement) in order to tick off the media;

Fired the entire National Science Board, which governs the National Science Foundation;

Granted approval of a new oil pipeline to run from Canada and through Montana and Wyoming;

Proposed to re-name the Palm Beach (Florida) International Airport as the “President Donald J. Trump International Airport”;

Floated the idea of suspending the Federal gas tax until gas prices are reduced;

Signed two executive orders allowing more foreign beef to enter the United States;

Filed a lawsuit against the IRS which contains the clause that “forever barred” and “precluded” from prosecution or pursuing of himself, his children and other family members, and their numerous businesses concerning any existing issues related to their tax returns, e.g. auditing; and

Forced four members of his Cabinet – all women – to resign their positions because they weren’t sufficiently loyal to him, i.e., they said something he didn’t like.

•The subject of daylight savings time (DST) is back in the news. Those who are not getting enough sunshine apparently have not learned their lessons. DST on a permanent basis was an experiment in the 1970s, and the actual workings turned out to dismay most human beings. (No non-humans were interviewed, however, but their consensus seemed to favor the status quo.)

DST, the psychologists said, disturbed the circadian system, the “machinery” by which the human body regulates its various parts. This disturbance, the psychologists further said, produced confusion and/or distemper on a massive scale. Mother Nature, they said even further, knew what She was doing when She created human beings untold millennia ago. Don’t mess with me! She said in plain language.

And she was right.

The experiment was closed down when Americans discovered that their daily routine began in total darkness and they had to send their children to school armed with flashlights. The accident/death rate rose significantly. Unfortunately, the experiment refused to die, as it should have, and it is now being given a new life.

The ”pro’s” have again wrapped their minds around the notion that this extra hour of daylight is free for the asking. It is not. If you “create” one hour of daylight in the evening, you have to “uncreate” one hour in the morning; there is no getting around it. “Tit for tat,” as the saying goes. Mother Nature abhors an imbalance in the workings of Planet Earth, and so She corrects it — often in unpleasant ways.

•While we are playing “Tick-Tock, smash the clock,” let us ask ourselves who was the “brain” who decided to begin the “day” at 12 o’clock midnight when most humans are snuggled in their beds and dreaming sweet dreams. Why not, The Chas asks, start the day at the first second after sunrise and call this beginning “Hour No. 1” and end the day at the last second before sunrise and call it “Hour No. 24”? Shameless plug follows! The Chas has used this clockwork in his novels, The Seranane Construct, Books One and Two.

In any event, we humans (non-humans have not yet been consulted) now live in a 24/7 society thanks to the Internet by which we can do whatever we want to do whenever we want to doit. Who needs DST in these circumstances? Not I, says The Chas. We can even get up at “1 am,” plug ourselves into our web page, and vilify our enemies to our hearts content. What fun!

By the way, The Chas uses the universal 24-hour time system, having learned it during his service in the military. No more “AM” or “PM” to confuse oneself, don’t you know?

Just a thought.
