Oswego Grand Old Flag exhibit to celebrate U.S. 250th

Oswego’s Little White School Museum workers, Bob Stekl, left, and Stephanie Just, unravel a rare 1840s-vintage 28-star “Great Star” pattern flag which will be on display Friday, July 3, at the museum, 72 Polk Street, Oswego. The temporary exhibit, “It’s a Grand Old Flag, and a Banner Year for Oswego” will feature a huge variety of flags and banners from the museum’s collection to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S..
The flag measures roughly 6 feet by 9 feet and is believed to have been made between 1846 and 1847. The 28-star flag was officially adopted on July 4, 1846 with the admission of Texas to the U.S.. Little White School Museum photo
