The City of Aurora government and mayor John Laesch are set to host a new Summer Civics Series to engage the community on the City’s plans for the 2027 budget and its long-term outlook for public safety, infrastructure, and sustainability.
The City of Aurora Summer Civics Series will start Saturday, July 25, for the Budget, Public Safety, and Infrastructure Town Hall. The event will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Aurora Public Works Facility, 2185 Liberty Street. Residents in attendance will help inform officials about each topic, plus provide feedback to help shape critical focus areas leading into September’s finalized budget discussions.
Saturday, Aug. 8, the Mayor’s Office will host a Civics Workshop at the Aurora Public Works Facility from 10 a.m. to noon. The class is designed to build civic skills, deepen the public’s understanding of how City decisions are made, and empower residents to take an active role in shaping Aurora’s future.
The Sustainability Town Hall, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, will detail the City’s current sustainability efforts ranging from green planning to long-term environmental resilience, and will allow attendees to share ideas that will guide the next phase of community-driven climate and development work. The event will take place at the Aurora Public Works Facility, 2185 Liberty Street, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m..
To round out the series, a Finalized Budget Town Hall will occur Saturday, Sept. 26 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Aurora Public Works Facility. This final event will consist of a review and discussion surrounding the City’s finalized budget proposal, while building on community input from previous town halls. This session will present the City’s full 2027 spending plan and give residents an additional opportunity to weigh in on the budget before its adoption in December.
