Aurora’s historic Wesley United Methodist Church is for sale.

Built in 1934, the property, 14 N. May St. (west Galena Boulevard and May Street), is 45,475-square-feet on two acres of land, with an asking price of $3.5 million.

The Rev. Tammy Scott, pastor since 2023, said “The For Sale sign has officially been installed on the corner of our property.

“The sign is an important milestone in our journey, but it is just that—a milestone, not the destination.

“We do not know how long it will take for the building to sell. It could be months. It could be longer. We don’t yet know what God has in store for the next chapter of Wesley’s story.

“What we do know is that God has been faithful to this congregation through every season, and God is faithful still.”

“Our church has never been defined only by bricks and stained glass. For generations, this building has been a place where people have encountered God’s love, grown in faith, celebrated baptisms and weddings, grieved together, and served our neighbors. We give thanks for that sacred history.

“But the Church has always been more than a building. The church is people gathered by God’s grace. Whatever unfolds in the months ahead, that identity does not change.”
