Do you want to own your own home? Would you like to build your own business? Do you believe the wages you earn should reflect the skills and efforts you’ve made to be productive? If your answer to these questions is “yes”, you just said “no” to socialism.
Do you believe in private ownership? Do you believe the more productive and skilled a person becomes, the more value he or she is to the society? Dr. Ben Carson was a brain surgeon and made a good living as a highly valued doctor. Why? Because we value our lives. So those who cure what ails us, are valuable.
But what happens when we don’t reward the talent and hard work it takes to become a Dr. Ben Carson, George Washington Carver, Steve Jobs, Frank Lloyd Wright, Michael Jordan, Alexander Fleming, or Elon Musk? What happens when we don’t value individual excellence or hard work? What happens when we consider skin pigmentation, and sexual identity first, before we consider the skill of the person flying the airplane we’re traveling in?
Should the State take a productive persons wealth and redistribute it among those who aren’t as productive? If you answered “yes” you’re well suited to live under the dictates of socialists. Socialists speak with great detail about equity for all. Note: Equity isn’t equality. Equity means living in a society where those who are productive are fleeced by those who are not.
In free enterprise economies, people create their own wealth according to their skills and ambitions. Because some of us have unique marketable talents others don’t have, we get compensated for those qualities. This is why Michael Jordan made more money than librarians. Communists don’t believe you nor other individuals of their societies should be wealthier than any others. Their view of equity states no person shall make more money than anyone else. Communists don’t like inequity so they don’t reward excellence regardless whether you’re a heart surgeon or a person who stocks shelves. They believe both should make the same wage. This is why the USSR and all other communist nations eventually fail. The workers aren’t incentivised to work hard or think creatively. There are no incentives to do so.
Zohran Mamdani and Hassan Piker, in my opinion, regard wealthy individuals with contempt. Mamdani considers capitalism a corrupt economic system, even though it provides everyone with opportunities to create wealth. This is why so many come to America. But communists here believe it’s their place to create a system of government whereby those who have talents to create opportunity, wealth, industry, and jobs, will have their wealth taxed/confiscated then redistributed to those who haven’t worked to earn that wealth.
Those running communist governments, such as Fidel Castro, enjoyed their fame, individuality, and wealth by confiscating the corporations of those who created the wealth. The masses in Cuba helped Castro do the confiscations. Then they became poor under the control of a communist governments with no individual rights. Communist regimes have no use for constitutions which is why they so easily rule over the lives of the workers.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has already told Americans the constitution, which regulates our government, would just “get in their way.” The creativity of all under communist rule in terms of talents, skills, and abilities belong to the collective, not to the worker who did the work. No one’s individual work or creativity translates into the individuals wealth under communism. The individual has no rights. Civil liberties do not exist, so the ability to use ones talents to becoming prosperous enough to purchase their own home, is also gone.
