Fox Valley Orchestra and Fox Valley Big Jazz Band will team up in a concert Sunday, Sept. 27.
The season opener for both groups will be at 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn Drive, Aurora.
A press release calls the performance “a vibrant contrast of jazz and classical arrangements of the famous “Peer Gynt Suite” by Edvard Grieg, as well as movements from Holst’s “Planets!”
Stephen Squires (FVO) and Jeff Ford (FVJBB), are music directors.
Online tickets are adult, $21; student/senior, $19; child 8 and under, $13. Prices are higher at the door. Advance tickets available at Fox Valley Orchestra ticket site or at Fox Valley Jazz Big Band website through noon Saturday, Sept. 26.
The groups are members of the Fox Valley Music Consortium, an Aurora-based non-profit cultural organization which provides fine musical performances for people of all ages and educational opportunities for youth. The consortium features professional and high level amateur performing groups, including several youth education programs.
Member groups are Fox Valley Orchestra and Chorus, Fox Valley Jazz Big Band, Fox Chamber Singers, Fox Valley El Sistema, Fox Valley Youth Orchestra, Fox Valley Youth Chorus and Fox Valley Youth Jazz Big Band.
