Job seekers who use the APLD database BrainFuse JobNow will find resume guides, templates, feedback from online experts, and more to help them right from the start. “The library offers many opportunities for those seeking career development or help in the job search,” said business librarian Chris. In addition to BrainFuse, your APLD card also gives you access to AtoZ Databases, the Vocational Search and Career Collection, and Linkedin Learning Library. “Linkedin Learning Library has over 2,000 video courses taught by recognized industry experts!” Chris added. Together, these databases can help you create the materials and build the skills you need throughout your job search.
Our digital resources are great, but sometimes the best resource is another person, especially when it comes to interviewing. Through APLD’s Digital Navigator Career Coaches, job seekers can get one-on-one guidance tailored to their individual needs. Digital Navigators offer walk-in hours at Santori Library in the afternoons and evenings for your convenience. Like any skill, interviewing becomes easier with practice. Taking time to prepare with a professional can help you feel more comfortable, confident, and ready to put your best foot forward.
Now that you’ve got a stellar resume and quick-witted interview skills, you’re ready to meet potential employers! APLD’s upcoming Career Fair offers the perfect chance to make those connections in person. Friday, Oct. 16, job seekers can visit the Santori Library from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and meet with representatives from a variety of industries including banking, manufacturing, and education. There will also be staffing agencies and workforce development organizations available to help anyone looking to make a career switch or take the next step in their career. This is a free event, and there is no registration required to attend.
“Career Fairs are a great way to support our community and connect people with opportunities. Our last Career Fair had nearly 300 attendees!” said Chris. “Libraries are about making sure everyone has access to information and resources, but they’re also about bringing people together.”
