A Halloween Discourse

You cannot be intrinsically what you are not;
So if you find you have been certified a witch
You’ll find it’s you yourself who brought about your lot.
You’ll also find, once certified, you cannot switch.
You’ve done it to yourself—the person you became—
A person who was always crotchety and mean;
Who now has no one but yourself whom you can blame.
The singularly grouchy person most often seen.

Of course, this takes a lifetime—how you chose to live;
Your basic attitude in life was not so nice.
You never thought there was a lot that you could give.
And seldom did you even listen to advice.
There must be time, however, for you to improve;
Where you will pause to smell the flowers bay the way;
Where you give help when needed, each a succinct move.
Where simple acts of kindness keep the blahs away.

So dreams become reality because you care.
Accentuate the positive, keep smiling through.
Where life itself has pleasures you are quick to share.
Where witchery itself is not including you!
To each its own is not an idle thought;
Because of you puts meaning doubled down.
It is impossible to be what you are not;
That does not mean you can’t be Talk the Town!
