Today, some primeval mentality persists;
Perhaps with some sophistication, it exists.
The most successful hunter-gatherers stood tall,
And soon would find that they were ruling over all.
What this high status did for egos was not taught;
Some good, some bad, some praiseworthy, some not.
But this had far-reaching effect on everything;
Eventually fomenting gains for queen or king.
It also separated personalities;
The search was on for finding ways in which to please.
Success in gaining favor found a lot of ways,
But always in some way gave the monarch praise.
Summarily all this is basic history.
Man’s acquiescence to a mastery.
Advancement came through learning, have it recognized;
But flip the coin on the last part, no surprise.
So favoritism, in some way, has played the key
To where and how and why mankind has come to be.
But it was not until America was born
That plaudits for the common man were truly worn.
The common citizen could seek his own way then;
Which meant he gained pride in himself, both where and when.
The thought that some men have that they must dominate
Is where, despite its history, we must deflate!
The “freedoms” with which all Americans are blessed
The freedom that he has to be himself is best!
