Indoors often, as a society today, however, nonetheless we do our best to be involved and to be active. It may be incomplete, however, we all do what we can do. There are examples.
• Flooding Saturday, Sunday, and Monday found rivers overflowing. See page 1 in North Aurora. Warnings were posted along the Fox River in St. Charles, North Aurora, Montgomery, Oswego, Yorkville, to list a few. The East and West Branches of the DuPage River were closed in Naperville, especially along the Riverwalk.
• Oswego, along with other communities canceled the annual Memorial Day parade and other related events, however, silence will not prevail. The Village government is directing a Front-Yard-A-Cue. Residents are encouraged to move their grills to the front yard from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to share with neighbors, grilling techniques and picnic tables. The objective will be to keep the groups to 10 or fewer and to wear masks when appropriate. Red, white, and blue should be the hue.
• The planned Memorial Day festival in Oswego, May 20-30, including the Middle East Conflicts Wall sponsored by the Fox Valley Breakfast Club, led by Herschel Luckinbill, will wait until next year. So, the Breakfast Club has planned a 4 p.m. Zoom meeting Thursday, May 21, sponsored by State representative Stephanie Kifowit.
• North Aurora Police Department, in coordination with Asbury Gardens in North Aurora, a retirement center, held a Social Distance Meet and Greet earlier this month. The officers both drove around the campus and walked with signs and hello gestures. See page 16. Clear and concise, week 20:
• Transition is a noun, not a verb. We make a transition, we do not transition.
• Patches of fog is correct. We must not make an adverb out of fog with patchy fog.
• Instant replay because it is important: Host is a noun and not a verb.
