Dear editor;
Residents of the 83rd Representative District, Aurora is at a crossroads. We have experienced good growth, still residents continue to move out of town. The direction of our neighborhoods, business community, and schools, depend on our having strong leaders.
For the first time in approximately 17 years, Aurora has the chance to elect a new State representative. I am supporting Juan Thomas.
He was born and raised in Aurora. An attorney by profession, Juan is an advocate for economic empowerment, education, and healthy families and community. His love and commitment for his hometown can be seen in what he does: Elected to the West Aurora School Board, served on the Board of Mutual Ground doing his part to help women and families harmed by domestic violence, active in his church as the social justice minister, just to name a few things! Some reasons why Juan is running to be our State representative:
• He will fight to lower your property tax!
• He believes the Illinois should provide funds for public education to its required level!
• He will work to fix the State’s pension crisis but not harm current teacher’s pensions!
• He believes in common sense gun safety laws that include licensing all gun dealers!
Juan has the life and work experience, along with strong relationships locally and across the State to hit the ground running in Springfield. Juan is a negotiator. He’s fair and an independent thinker. He has the courage to ask tough questions and push back when necessary to do what’s best for you and me.
Pease join me in voting for Juan Thomas for State representative. Election Day is March 17! You can early vote now!
Sincerely,
Anita Lewis, Kane County Board, District 3, Aurora
