I Pledge Allegiance
Bridget Butler
Aurora
I pledge allegiance to a flag
divided right in two-
Divided by the red and divided by the blue
And to the Republic
for which it stands-
So long as our Republic
does not come from foreign lands
But we say we are one nation,
Under God
Where our 2nd Amendment is protected,
yet our 5th Commandment is constantly robbed
And we are indivisible,
by the land that we are on
However, separated by the thoughts of man
the fight against what is right and wrong
We have liberty,
That in the past, has stripped our rights,
Each star falling
from the banner up above
And there is justice for all people,
that is for
those who are already loved
But I want to pledge allegiance to a flag
that supports our troops afar
fighting to protect this flag
and the rights that are involved
To support the Republic
for which it stands with
hand on heart, and heart in hand,
and hands joined together across our land
As one nation, under God
To remind us that there is a higher power;
that our president is not of supreme, royal blood
Because we are indivisible.
For what we want is all the same-
respect and equality,
the pursuit of happiness-
It is our lifelong, endless game
In a nation where Liberty
lights her fire to show us
that our futures are all bright
Because we will not repeat our history-
Instead, we will conquer, and we will unite
Because there could be justice for all.
Justice for the largest man that’s walking,
and justice for the unborn baby; too small
So, I will pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America
Not because it supports what it pledges,
But because it preaches what we long to achieve-
In this home of the brave and land of the free.
