Aurora mayor Richard C. Irvin is pleased to announce the appointment of Anthony Stanford, a prominent columnist associated with Tribune Media, as the communication director for his campaign committee. This strategic addition to the team aims to enhance communication efforts and foster closer connections with the Aurora community.
He has submitted columns on occasion to The Voice.
Anthony Stanford is a well-respected figure in Aurora, having made exceptional contributions to the City over the years. He has been recognized with numerous accolades, showcasing his dedication to community service and cultural enrichment. In 2014, he was honored with Aurora’s Outstanding African American Leadership Award, followed by the prestigious Aurora Cultural Champion award in 2015. In 2019, his poetic talents earned him the esteemed position of Aurora Deputy Poet Laureate for the City government of Aurora.
In addition to his successful journalistic endeavors, Stanford has actively has served in public service roles, demonstrating his commitment to making a positive impact in Aurora. He has been an integral member of the Aurora Housing Authority Board, by contributing valuable insights to housing-related matters. Furthermore, he played a significant role on Aurora’s Human Relations Commission, by advocating for inclusivity and understanding within the community.
