Grandpa,
I read with interest your column about the dog breeders. (See The Voice, June 6, 2019). Please send to me the information on freezing my credit report. What I cannot understand is why someone would pay 1,000 dollars or more for a dog when the shelters are full of beautiful, loving, animals for only the cost of neutering and chipping.

Grandpa says: Your freeze information is on its way to you. As for the animal shelters, may I suggest aside from paying the fee, you give a donation to help feed the animals that are still in the shelter? August 17 was Empty The Shelters Day. Grandpa has not received information on how well the event succeeded. It is not too late to visit the shelter and adopt a pet.

Grandpa,
I need your help. I don’t know where else to turn. Many years ago, when my father died, my grandfather had a song played at my dad’s funeral. He said it was one of my father’s favorites. Now my grandfather is dying and asked that I have the song played at his funeral. He doesn’t remember the name or the artist. His favorite line in the song is. “Love lost, such a cost. Give me things that don’t get lost.” I was quite young when my dad died, but I do remember the song had a very gentle tone to it. I don’t remember if it was piano music or guitar music. I have asked at record stores and sheet music places, but without the title or artist’s name, no one can help me find it. I want very much to honor the grandfather who raised me. Please help me.

Grandpa says: I very well remember the song you mean. Neil Young, in his song, “Old Man” sings, “I’m a lot like you, I need someone to love me.” You are right, it is a very lovely tune. And I can see why your grandfather played it for his son’s funeral. I can understand your desire to play it for your grandfather’s funeral. In order for you to be able to play it for your grandfather while he is still alive, I am sending to you the website where he can hear it played and the lyrics will be on the computer screen. He has to be a very good man to have raised you to be as loving and caring as you seem to be. May God bless you both.

Grandpa,
These lawyer ads on television have gotten way out of hand! I just saw an ad for a law group that is willing to sue doctors and pharmacies if “you or a loved one” took an overdose of a prescription medication! How is a doctor or pharmacy to prevent some idiot from intentionally overdosing? They already have child-proof, or as I call them, old-people proof medicine bottles.

Grandpa says: The legal profession, just like every other profession, has its share of scoundrels who are out to make a fast buck without regard to a moral compass.
