Grandpa,
My fiancé has known his best friend since they were kids. They even went to the same college together. They both work in the (same profession) but not the same company. My fiancé has asked his friend to be the best man at our wedding. I am trying to fix him up with some of my girl friends because he has nobody in his life. My fiancé keeps telling me not to bother because his friend is not interested in marriage yet. I am told that his career objectives come first. So, I had a talk with (the friend). I told him that if he does not have a date, he could escort a friend of mine to the wedding. He said okay to that, but told me not to expect a relationship to blossom out of it. When I pressed for an explanation, he told me that he is gay and has a man in his life.
Grandpa, I do not want one of those things at my wedding! I don’t care how good a friend he is with my fiancé; I do not want him at my wedding. Period. I will not stand in front of a priest with a faggot next to the man I am marrying. Those kinds of individuals do not even belong in a church. Why did my fiancé never tell me his friend is a queer? I asked and all he said was that it was not an issue for him
Grandpa says: You have way too much hate in your heart. Maybe you should reconsider marrying a man who is not as hateful as you. It will never work out.
Grandpa,
I got a traffic ticket on Route 34 in Aurora, in the Kendall County part of Aurora. I am not protesting the ticket; I am just wondering why I would have to go to court in the courthouse in Kane County? I live, work and was ticketed in Kendall County. Is this some sort of a power grab?
Grandpa says: You were ticketed by Aurora City Police. The court to which you were assigned is the City court, not a county court. Because Aurora is in four counties, it would be a logistical nightmare to have officers required to be in four county courts to try traffic tickets and other minor offenses within the City. With a population the size of Aurora, there are only 114 cities in the entire Nation more populous. This system is the most efficient. FYI, the four counties, alphabetically, are DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will.
Grandpa,
What is ‘selah’ in the Book of Psalms? All my concordance says is it is a musical notation. It does not define it. What does it mean?
Grandpa says: Selah just means for the singer to pause or change voices; possibly even to change singers when singing in a round. Remember, Psalms means “songs”. One should never say the word “selah’ when reading the Book of Psalms, or, Habakkuk any more than one would say ‘Treble Clef’ when singing a song in English.
