It was an early morning for Aurora mayor Richard Irvin, who visited the Aurora 911 Center at 6 a.m. for the third to first shift change for Aurora’s Headset Heroes.
Yet, the energy was high in the room, and smiles were plentiful as Aurora’s 911 Operators were honored for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Mayor Irvin surprised the first responders with a personalized proclamation and a self-care basket to make their long shifts a bit easier.
“Each Headset Hero has exhibited compassion, understanding, and professionalism in performing their job in the past year and deserves our deepest gratitude,” said Irvin in the proclamation.
The Aurora 911 Center has 28 staff members who answer more than 250,000 calls a year.
