For 39 years, the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry has helped reduce food insecurity and hunger and their negative impact on the individuals who experience them and the community as a whole, by making nourishing food accessible in a humanitarian and compassionate manner to anyone in need. The Pantry seeks an executive director with a strong belief in the relevance and value of this mission.

It is a full-time, salaried, position in Aurora. The executive director of the Aurora Food Pantry works under and with the guidance of a board of directors and in accordance with the articles of incorporation and bylaws of a 501.c.3 nonprofit organization.

The executive director will plan, organize, and exercise control over operations of the Pantry, including strategic planning, resource development, asset management oversight, and day-to-day operations.

Key attributes of the successful candidate will include:

• Senior level experience in nonprofit management;

• Proven experience in team building and management of staff and volunteers;

• Proven experience in fundraising;

• Familiarity with website marketing and social media that increases online awareness and support;

• External relationship management (donors, clients, vendors, partners);

• Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to a dynamic environment;

• Strong financial management skills;

• Strong communication skills with the ability to be the face of the organization to diverse audiences, including the public and stakeholders;

• Knowledge of and relationships within the Fox River Valley . . . .Local candidates are preferred.

The executive director will oversee the distribution of food from an 18,000-square foot facility located at 1110 Jericho Road in Aurora. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pantry has adapted to serve 52,000+ households and distributed more than 3,380,000 pounds of food and uses a no contact, drive-through distribution model . . . a 400% increase over the clients served and food distributed in the Pantry’s regular in-house client-choice market distributions. The Pantry will continue to use this no-contact model until the State reaches phase 5 in its pandemic response plan.
