Each year, the Aurora Art League (AAL) is host to an art exhibit which showcases dozens of paintings and other works of art created by Aurora’s finest artists. With the pandemic, many of the show’s loyal attendees are wondering if and how AAL will be to able host the exhibit this year. With the help of streaming technology, the AAL will bring its 62nd annual exhibition to your home for free through Facebook Live, presented by the Aurora Public Library District (ALPD).
Attendees will have the opportunity to virtually immerse themselves Friday, Sept. 4, in the highlighted AAL works of art from 2020. The virtual Facebook Live format provides attendees with the opportunity to view and appreciate art from a convenient and safe location. “With the COVID-19 pandemic, it is hard to find normally-available opportunities to experience local art and music,” said events and program coordinator, Krista Danis. “With Facebook Live, people have a chance to appreciate the artwork of others safely from their home,” she said. More details about the event are available at www.aurorapubliclibrary.org/event/3383992. You don’t need a Facebook account to tune in.
Along with delivering community art, entertainment opportunities, and information to you, APLD’s partnership with AAL serves the community in many ways, like offering scholarships to high school students wishing to pursue a collegiate level of education in art. These students will have an opportunity to meet other artists, network, collaborate, exchange ideas, and to receive feedback.
If you would like the opportunity to experience talent and creativity firsthand with art created by community residents, we hope that you will join us for this year’s virtual art show!
If you are curious, or interested in learning more about all of the amazing opportunities, events and programs which the AAL offers, you can learn more on the league’s website; auroraartleague.org.
