City of Aurora government officials are excited to celebrate National Cybersecurity Awareness Month by offering residents a free home internet security course and virtual cybersecurity workshop.
The City’s Information Technology Department is collaborating with KnowBe4, the world’s largest internet security awareness training platform, to offer Aurora residents a free home internet security course designed to assist families in making smart, safe decisions online.
Available throughout the month of October, the course will help community members identify security awareness, understand how cybercriminals operate, and learn how to protect themselves from cyber-attacks.
To access the course, residents can visit www.aurora-il.org/FreeIn
ternetSecurityCourse and log in using the password “homecourse.”
In addition, the City is participating in the Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champions Program to promote online safety and privacy awareness. In collaboration with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the City will be host to a virtual cybersecurity workshop entitled, “Secure Our World,” at 10 A.M. Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Led by Amber Simco, senior advisor for Threat Hunt at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the free session will provide easy, practical advice and tips on how to keep Aurora families safe and secure. Chief information officer for the city of Aurora, Michael Pegues, will moderate the workshop.
