The Aurora Police Department Celebration of Courage Aurora Strong Ceremony Monday at the Paramount Theatre gave honors to more than 40 Aurora Police officers and professional staff members for their vital roles, acts of valor, and courageous teamwork during the Henry Pratt Company shooting tragedy February 15 in Aurora. The five officers injured: John Cebulski, Marco Gomez, Adam Miller, Reynaldo Rivera, and James Zegar received the Blue Star Award, the highest honor of the Aurora Police Department.
The officers received the Warrior Award by Lt. Tammy Reeder of the Oklahoma City Police Department; Illinois State recognition by State representative Keith Wheeler, and Diamond Award from the Henry Pratt Company’s Scott Hall.
Mayor Richard C Irvin made a surprise Special Proclamation to name each officer’s birthday in their honor each year. In Aurora John Cebulski Day will be August 10, Marco Gomez Day March 24 Adam Miller Day May 11, Reynaldo Rivera Day December 7, and James Zegar Day March 25.
