The Aurora City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Yordana Wysocki to serve as the City’s new chief legal officer and Alison Lindburg to serve as the City’s first-ever director of sustainability.

Wysocki comes to the City following an impressive 20-plus-year career in local government law. She previously served as a partner at Hervas, Condon & Bersani, P.C., a law firm in Itasca that specializes in local government law and litigation. Wysocki’s specialties include litigation management and strategies, regulatory compliance, and employment relations.

In addition, Wysocki is the incoming chairperson of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Local Government Section Council, and has served as a committee member of The Legacy Project, which promotes women leadership in local government.

“I’m very excited to join the city of Aurora,” Wysocki said. “This is a wonderful next step in my career, and I am looking forward to being a part of such a dynamic team”

As the incoming Chief Legal officer, Wysocki will provide day-to-day legal advice and counsel to elected officials and upper City management, review contracts and other legal agreements along with proposed ordinances, draft and negotiate agreements on behalf of the City, issue legal opinions, represent the City’s interests to other local governments, and represent the City in legal actions.

Lindburg has spent nearly 20 years in the green building field, previously serving as the director of Building Codes and Policy at the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. In that role, Lindburg worked with several states and their local governments to move toward decarbonization through energy efficiency policies such as energy codes. In addition, she leads research analysis surrounding decarbonizations efforts and energy efficiency in buildings.

Lindburg serves on a number of boards and commissions, including the Illinois Energy Code Advisory Council, the Illinois Building Energy Hub Advisory Board, the Chicago Sustainable Development Policy Committee, and the International Code Sustainability Membership Council.

“I’m honored to join the team here at the city of Aurora,” Lindburg said. “I’m looking forward to bringing my expertise to the table to help the City develop long-term sustainability plans and policies.”

As the City’s first-ever director of Sustainability, Lindburg will be given the task to lead Aurora’s sustainability efforts through strategic planning, innovative programming, and regional partnerships. Lindburg will also look to establish a City-wide sustainability plan, create a public bank or green investment mechanism to finance small- and large-scale sustainability projects, and propose new or update existing City ordinances to reflect environmental sustainability.
