Bugg, and alderman Scheketa Hart-Burns, when he issued his annual proclamation for Black History Month at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday. The mayor invited members of the Aurora African-American Heritage Advisory Board (AAHAB) to accept the proclamation and acknowledged the work AAHAB does in Aurora to honor the past, empower the present, and prepare the future through advocacy and service. Each year, the mayor presents the proclamation to a special group. In 2018, it was presented to African-American staff members of City Hall. Girl Scout Troop 50074 of Gombert Elementary School in Aurora is honored with Awards of Service for its community service and leadership at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday. The Scouts were invited by Ward 9 alderman Edward Bugg, center, second row, to tour City Hall, learn about City government and lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
