Emmy Lou (Hampel), left, and Herb John of Aurora celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, Aug. 24. Hosting a coffee hour after worship services, the couple was honored at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora. The Wisconsin natives married at Kingsley Methodist Episcopal Church in Milwaukee August 28, 1965. Emmy Lou and Herb met at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Wesley Foundation. They corresponded for almost three years while Herb served in the Army in Germany and Emmy Lou finished her education. Residing in Aurora since 1971, they raised their children Rebecca and Christopher.Al Benson/The Voice
