According to a Facebook post from mayor John Laesch, aldermen Will White and Keith Larson were among city volunteers who helped Habitat staffers and other volunteers add four feet of insulated walls to three of 17 homes in the Green Freedom project.

The homes under construction are energy efficient, Net Zero rated, storm proof, and technologically advanced. Homeowners will have zero heating and cooling bills thanks to the energy efficient design, smart-home metering and solar panels for electricity.

Laesch thanked the CEJA workforce development hub and professionals from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for providing regular support for the project. Laesch added that the city Planning and Zoning Division and Building and Permits Division helped bring the project back on-line.
