Aurora government approves increased $477 Million budget

The Aurora City Council Tuesday, approved an ordinance adopting the annual budget for the Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 2020 and Ending December 31, 2020. There were no speakers at the public hearing on the proposed budget in conjunction with the regular City Council meeting. With carryovers, the budget is approximately $477 Million, $46 Million higher than last year’s $431 Million.

The increase will help with the City’s plans to add six police officers and a Record’s Division clerk.

• Unanimously approved was the 2020 Quality of Life Grants in the amount of $898,000. The program was implemented in 2007 and over the years dozens of organizations have been funded to serve thousands of residents. More information can be found on the City’s website, Aurora-il.org.
