The half-price membership promotion by the Aurora Historical Society (AHS) which began in the Summer will continue through December 31. Society president Mary Clark Ormond said the opportunity for 12 months of the perks and privileges of membership is both a way to support the work of the organization and a timely solution to gift-giving problems that can plague the thoughtful giver at the holidays.

Benefits of membership include a 10% discount in the gift shop at the Pierce Art and History Center in Aurora, the quarterly newsletter containing original research and writing, free access to the archives for private research, and reduced rates for assisted research and reproductions, invitations to private previews and functions, and discounted prices on event tickets.

Membership begins on the date of purchase and extends for one year.

“Of course,” Ormond said, “we feel that the best benefit of all is knowing that you are taking on an important role in preserving and presenting history, both today and tomorrow. Membership dues are a substantial part of our budget picture.”

Gift memberships include a “You’re So Gifted” card mailed to the recipient or to the giver, if a personal presentation is preferred.

At half-price, membership rates range from $12.50 for seniors and students to $125 for benefactors. Single memberships are $17.50 and family memberships are $25. The half-price promotion is available online at www.aurorahistory.net or by calling 630-906-0650 the gift shop at 20 E. Downer, 60505 Wednesdays-Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m..
