Aurora Historical Society war poster exhibit; calendars

The Aurora Historical Society exhibit, “Poster Art of the World Wars,” the exhibit features more than 25 colorful, lithographed patriotic posters from World War I and World War II.

The exhibit, in honor of Veterans Day, is featured in the first floor gallery of the David L. Pierce Art & History Center at 20 E. Downer Place in downtown Aurora. It will run just two weeks, through Saturday, Nov. 22.

The Pierce Center is open free of charge Wednesday through Friday from noon to 4 and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..

•The Aurora Historical Society just released its Vintage Aurora 2026 calendar. This year’s theme is “Ceremonies, Parades, & Celebrations.” The calendar, which honors the 250th birthday of the U.S. and the 120th birthday of the Aurora Historical Society.

Images included depict events and parades in downtown Aurora such as the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Aurora’s Centennial, celebrations at the end of the World Wars, presidential visits, and more.

The wall calendar measures and features a full-sized photo for each month, plus a separate cover image and some smaller images.

The 9 ½ by 12 ½ inch calendar sells for $18.95 plus tax and is available in the Museum Shop at the David L. Pierce Art & History Center, 20 E. Downer in downtown Aurora.
